On Oral & Written Communication Skills |
In a variety of ways I use verbal and nonverbal media to communicate with students, support instruction, promote collaboration, engage in inquiry, and enhance interaction. Much of my teaching and instructional style are discussion-based, which requires planning on my part what to say and how best to say it. This meansI have to break the content down in a way that the students can understand it. This also applies to any written material I may distribute to the students. A lot of times handouts, worksheets and other documents made by textbook companies don't word things in quite as precisely a way as they need to for certain groups of students. Every piece of paper I hand out to my students is therefore almost always something I have customized or made myself. Generally speaking, the quality and consistency of lectures and reading material are two things I pride in terms of oral and and written communication skills. |
